Ukraine and Latvia have agreed to develop an AI tool that will speed up Ukraine's accession to the European Union. It was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Ukraine will use Latvian AI technologies to adapt Ukrainian legislation to EU norms faster," the report says.

According to the report, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, together with the Government Office for Coordination of European Integration, signed a memorandum with the Latvian company Tilde and the National AI Center of Latvia.

The Ministry notes that joining the EU requires titanic work with regulatory documents, about 30,000 acts of European law need to be analyzed and implemented, and this process would take years to complete manually.

To speed up European integration, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is developing an AI tool for the translation and analysis of European legislation, and Latvian translation technologies will become the basis for the AI assistant.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation notes that Ukrainian government agencies are already using Tilde's AI technologies for automatic translation of documents, and the memorandum consolidates this partnership and opens up new opportunities for attracting international technical assistance.

Specific cooperation includes:

exchange of experience in training large language models, in particular their optimization for the Ukrainian language;

study of the capabilities of European supercomputers, namely EuroHPC infrastructures for high-performance computing;

creation of new AI solutions for public services, education and business;

assistance in participating in European initiatives and funding programs.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in September, the Ministry of Digital Transformation launched an artificial intelligence assistant called Diia.AI on the Diia portal.
