The construction of the German company Rheinmetall's ammunition plant in Ukraine is being delayed, said Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger.

This is stated in an interview published by the Bundeswehr Reservists Association.

Papperger said the plant was supposed to be launched "right now," but Ukraine "decided to change the location."

"We have been told that a new construction site will be determined very quickly. Once the final decision is made, we will launch the plant within 12 months, as we have successfully done in Germany," he said.

The head of Rheinmetall also noted that a contract for the production of German armored vehicles in Ukraine has not yet been signed with Ukraine. Papperger explained that this contract requires significant funds

He mentioned such equipment as Fuchs armored personnel carriers, Lynx infantry fighting vehicles and Panther tanks.

"Placing production there [in Ukraine - ed.] makes sense only if Rheinmetall can produce 200 to 300 vehicles," Papperger emphasized.
