Russia increases production of armored vehicles according to Soviet drawings - OSINT analyst

Russia has sharply increased the production of BTR-82 armored personnel carriers, effectively returning to the mass production of Soviet-style armored vehicles.

This was reported by an open source analyst (OSINT) under the pseudonym Jompy.

According to his estimates, the annual production volume may reach 700 vehicles, which indicates a large-scale militarization of the russian economy.

The active resumption of the production of armored vehicles is indicated by the statistics of losses at the front - BTR-82s are increasingly appearing among the destroyed russian vehicles, while the old BMP-1s have almost disappeared from the lists.

"Russia had almost no BTR-80s in stock before the war, so claims about their restoration are unlikely," Jompy notes.

The analyst notes that russia is producing the BTR-82 from scratch, rather than refurbishing old equipment, which confirms the defense sector's transition to a military production mode.

The BTR-82 is a modernized version of the Soviet BTR-80, used for personnel transport, fire support, and reconnaissance. Serial production began in 2011, but in recent years its pace has increased significantly.
