Ex-Odesa mayor Trukhanov was sent to 24-hour house arrest
The Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv has chosen a preventive measure in the form of 24-hour house arrest for the former mayor of Odesa, Hennadii Trukhanov. The former mayor of Odesa must also wear an electronic bracelet. This was reported by Ukrinform on Friday, October 31.
"The court ruled: to grant the petition. To apply to Trukhanov... a preventive measure in the form of house arrest, prohibiting him from leaving the place of residence at the specified address around the clock, except for the need to receive emergency medical care and follow him to a civil defense shelter during an air raid, until December 28, 2025," the judge said.
In addition, Trukhanov was prohibited from leaving Odesa without the permission of the investigator, prosecutor, or court, or from communicating with witnesses. The former mayor of Odesa was also ordered to wear an electronic bracelet and hand over his passport and other documents for traveling abroad. Trukhanov's lawyer, Oleksandr Lysak, told reporters that the defense will appeal the court's decision.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 29, former Odesa mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and two of his deputies were charged with official negligence for failing to take measures during the city's September 30 flood.
On October 14, it became known that President Zelenskyy signed a decree to strip Odesa mayor Trukhanov of his citizenship.
