Drones attack thermal power plant in Oryol, russia
On the night of October 31, drones attacked a local thermal power plant in the russian city of Oryol. The incident was reported by local public media and later confirmed by the governor of the Oryol Oblast, Andrey Klychkov.
At first, residents of Oryol heard explosions, after which videos of the attack appeared on social media. Astra's public service noted that it had geolocated the footage, which confirms the attack on the thermal power plant.
According to Klychkov, when the drone was shot down, the debris fell on the territory of the thermal power plant, which led to damage to the power supply equipment.
He clarified that the power engineers switched consumers to backup lines and are carrying out repair work.
The Oryol thermal power plant is the largest source of electricity and heat in the region, providing electricity and heat to a large part of the region.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of October 29, Ukrainian drones attacked two refineries in the Ulyanovsk Oblast and the Republic of Mari El. A gas processing plant in the Staropolsky Krai of the russian federation was also hit.
Earlier, russian media reported that as of the end of September, almost 40% of russia's oil refining capacities were idle, including due to attacks by Ukrainian UAVs.
