The operation was carried out at around 10 p.m. by the Brigade for the Fight against Banditry (BRB), which was in charge of the investigation and mobilized more than 100 investigators throughout the week. At the same time, the second offender was detained by the Paris judicial police in Saint-Saint-Denis.

A police source later said that the second suspect was planning to flee to Mali.
