150 million tons of cargo exported via Ukrainian sea corridor
150 million tons of cargo have been exported during the operation of the Ukrainian sea corridor Vice Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Kuleba said that more than 6,000 vessels and 90 million tons of grain have been delivered to 55 countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that as of today, there are 30 stationary shelters in seaports for the safety of employees and 21 additional mobile protective structures in the ports of Great Odesa.
Port operators and private companies have also set up dozens of their own shelters.
Kuleba noted that repair work at transport interchanges is underway.
After their completion, the capacity for freight transport will increase by more than 20%.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 10, 2023, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced temporary corridors for merchant vessels going to and from Ukraine's Black Sea seaports.
On July 17, 2023, russia announced the withdrawal of security guarantees for navigation in the Black Sea ensuring a "grain corridor."
As of mid-October 2024, 75 million tons of cargo have been exported through the Ukrainian sea corridor since the start of its operation.
On September 21, 2024, the bulk carrier Resilient Africa arrived in the Turkish Bosphorus Strait.
This was the first ship with grain from Ukraine to pass through the Black Sea along the temporary corridor.
