Swedish fighter jets intercept russian submarine in Baltic Sea. This case is not first

A russian submarine entered the Baltic Sea through the Gulf of Belt on October 14. It was spotted and escorted by Swedish warplanes.

It was reported by the Swedish Air Force.

The agency clarified that the submarine was spotted in the waters of Kattegatt, after which it was taken under escort by Swedish fighters and naval units.

Sweden emphasized that the operation was "routine" and was carried out in cooperation with allies.

When a russian submarine was seen off the coast of Europe

On October 9, the NATO Naval Command reported that a russian submarine B-261 Novorossiysk had been spotted on the surface off the coast of France, unexpectedly surfacing during a patrol.

A French frigate spotted the submarine near its waters and established surveillance over it.

NATO suggested that the boat could have surfaced due to a technical malfunction, but emphasized that the situation was under control. However, the russian military assured that the boat was fine.
