Head of European Commission states that RF waging hybrid war against EU
Incidents with the violation of airspace by drones and aircraft indicate that the aggressor country of russia is waging a hybrid war against the European Union.
According to Reuters, the corresponding statement was made by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
According to her, what has been happening in recent weeks is not a coincidence. She called it a consistent and escalating campaign aimed at destabilizing EU citizens, testing the bloc's resolve and weakening support for Ukraine.
"And it's time to call things by their right names. This is a hybrid war," the President of the European Commission said.
Von der Leyen did not say that russia is responsible for all the recent incidents, but emphasized that Moscow's goal is to sow discord in Europe.
She added that the bloc must respond to russia's actions with measures that go beyond traditional defense.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier in September the European Union admitted that the bloc is not capable of detecting and combating UAVs. It will take at least a year to create such a system.
As a reminder, Ukraine and Poland have agreed to hold joint exercises aimed at practicing actions to combat drones.
