Hungary becomes leader in electricity supply to Ukraine in September
Electricity imports in September 2025 decreased by 47% compared to the previous month - to almost 140,000 MWh, at the same time, Hungary still takes the largest share in the import structure - 58%.
This is stated in the ExPro publication, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In general, imports decreased in all directions, and there were practically no deliveries from Slovakia due to the repair of the line.
Electricity imports from Moldova decreased significantly, by 80%.
Compared to September 2024, imports decreased by almost 70%.
In September, compared to August, Ukraine increased electricity exports by 41% to 635,000 MWh.
The report says that this figure is a record since the beginning of integration with ENTSO-E.
The largest amount of electricity was exported to Hungary, 40% of all volumes.
Deliveries to Poland also increased after the temporary suspension of cross-border trade with Slovakia due to repairs on the Veľké Kapušany - Mukachevo line.
Exports to Poland in September amounted to 97,300 MWh, which is almost 5 times more than the previous month.
For comparison, electricity exports in September 2024 were minimal - only 764 MWh.
However, since the beginning of October, electricity exports have significantly decreased due to cold weather and cloudy weather.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in August, compared to July, Ukraine increased electricity exports by 60% to 450,000 MWh.
