Ukraine going to review subsistence minimum - Finance Ministry
The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing changes to the system for calculating the subsistence minimum. This is one of the government's priorities.
This was stated by Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada.
Marchenko said that the subsistence minimum in Ukraine according to the draft budget for 2026 will be UAH 3,209 per person. It is used as a calculation value for determining other social payments.
According to Marchenko, the government, together with the Ministry of Social Policy, is working on modernizing the subsistence minimum. It is planned to "untie" it from unusual surcharges and make it a sufficient and understandable indicator that will realistically reflect the standard of living.
"We hope that you will support the said bill, and we, as the government, are ready to study it. The Ministry of Finance will provide maximum support in this regard," the minister emphasized.
Marchenko stressed that increasing the subsistence minimum is a priority for the government.
"We are working to constantly increase the subsistence minimum," he added.
The subsistence minimum was last increased on January 1, 2024 and currently remains at the level of UAH 2,920.
