Ukraine and Poland agree on joint exercises on use and counteraction of UAVs
Ukraine and Poland have agreed on joint exercises on the use and counteraction of UAVs. This was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, Shmyhal announced that Ukraine and Poland are creating a joint working group on unmanned aircraft systems. He signed the corresponding Memorandum today in Kyiv together with Vice Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Poland Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
"We are taking our security cooperation to a new level in response to russian terror, which threatens Ukraine and other European countries. The central element of this working group will be joint training programs," he said.
The working group will also:
facilitate the exchange of operational knowledge and experience in the field of UAVs;
develop and test methods of using and countering UAVs, integrate innovative technologies;
strengthen interoperability between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Poland and ensure compatibility with NATO standards.
In addition, they signed a joint declaration on strengthening security and defense cooperation, where they agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas, including SAFE and PURL.
Shmyhal and Kosiniak-Kamysz also signed a letter of appeal to the NATO defense ministers, calling on the allies to send experts to the Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) and to take an active part in its projects.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a delegation led by the Polish Defense Minister arrived in Kyiv for a visit.
On the night of September 9-10, russian UAVs flew into the territory of Poland. The Polish military recorded 19 cases of violation of the country's airspace.
Later, the head of the Bureau of International Policy under the President of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, reported that there was information about 21 drones. Furthermore, not all of them have been found yet.
