IMF demands increase in certain taxes - Hetmantsev tells details
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) demands increase in certain taxes.
This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"There will be some specific solutions such as the implementation of DAC7. This is an EU directive that concerns cooperation in the mechanism for taxing digital platforms such as Uber and Glovo. It is about improving tax collection from activities carried out through digital platforms. The government has already introduced a relevant bill. The IMF also talks about taxing parcels. The Fund raised this issue at a meeting with them. I do not rule out some similar specific solutions," he said.
At the same time, the MP clarified that there is currently no global increase in the VAT rate on the table.
According to him, this taxation is destructive in the conditions of such a large part of the shadow economy that exists in Ukraine, so such an increase will increase the shadow and burden those who are conscientious taxpayers.
"I will not say categorically - no. If we are in a situation where such a decision is without alternative... But before that, all other options and possibilities must be used. We will refrain from raising taxes as much as possible," Hetmantsev said, answering a question about unpopular decisions in the absence of sufficient assistance from external partners.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier Hetmantsev reported that the International Monetary Fund will demand to de-shadow the economy of Ukraine.
