Lithuanian President Nausėda's plane could not immediately land at Vilnius airport due to unknown drone – CCD
Due to an unknown drone circling in the Lithuanian Vilnius area, the plane of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda could not immediately land in the capital and had to circle over the country. Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, reported this on Telegram.
Thus, it is noted that usually a direct flight from Helsinki to Vilnius lasts about an hour and a half, but this time it lasted longer due to the drone.
"According to Flightradar24, the plane of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda took off from Helsinki at 7:10 p.m. on September 2, after which it circled over the central part of the country for some time and only landed in Vilnius at 9:17 p.m. As LRT specifies, the drone was spotted in the Liepkalnis area near Vilnius. It is currently unknown who it belonged to," the report says.
The CCD also notes that in July, the Lithuanian police reported a drone that flew into the country's airspace from the side of Belarus. At that time, the device turned out to be similar to the Gerbera drone, which russian troops are using in the war against Ukraine.
"You can continue to pretend that nothing is happening. Unfortunately, time is working against NATO countries. But there is still time to start acting actively first," Kovalenko stressed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the plane of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was forced to make an emergency landing in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, due to the outage of GPS navigation services at the Bulgarian airport.
It was also reported that the number of GPS jamming in the skies over Latvia has more than doubled. They are linked to russia.
