Zelenskyy announces long-range strikes on russia after Syrskyi's report

The Ukrainian Defense Forces will continue active actions to protect against russian occupiers, and have also planned new deep strikes. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this after the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi on Sunday, August 31.

Zelenskyy noted that the aggressor country russia has failed to fulfill any of its strategic tasks, while suffering heavy losses, especially in the Donetsk Region. According to him, in the eight months of this year, the number of russians killed and seriously wounded exceeded 290,000. The russian army is concentrating its greatest efforts on the Pokrovsk direction. Stabilization measures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ongoing in some areas of the front.

"We have analyzed in detail the situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction and the intentions of the occupier. Also the situation in the border areas of the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions. We will continue our active actions exactly as needed to protect Ukraine. Forces and means are prepared. New deep strikes have also been planned," Zelenskyy emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 30, the US State Department approved the sale of spare parts and other equipment for the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine in the amount of about USD 179.1 million.
