NABU denies information about investigation into Fire Point's Flamingo cruise missile

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has denied media reports about an alleged investigation into the Flamingo cruise missile, manufactured by Fire Point. The Bureau stressed that the inspection, if it is being conducted, does not concern this weapon.

The NABU reported this on social networks.

The Kyiv Independent, citing five sources familiar with the investigation, stated that NABU is investigating Fire Point's activities. The company is suspected of deliberately overstating the cost of supplies.

The journalists cite documents indicating that Fire Point is one of the largest recipients of funds from the Ministry of Defense for the production of drones. The company was almost unknown until it announced the release of the Flamingo long-range missile in August this year.

It was also claimed that NABU is concerned about Fire Point overstating either the cost of its components or the number of drones it supplies, or both.

According to Kyiv Independent sources, the investigation into Fire Point has been ongoing for about four months and is a priority for the bureau. Investigators are looking into possible overstating of the cost of components, the number of drones, or both. No individuals or legal entities have been charged so far.

The company confirmed the existence of the inspection, but called it part of broader audits of Ukraine's defense procurement system and denied any wrongdoing. According to the sources, the investigation may be related to Fire Point's potential ultimate owner, businessman Tymur Mindich, who was previously a co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio founded by President Zelenskyy, but no direct connection has been established at this time.

At the same time, NABU said that it is not conducting any investigation against Fire Point. At the same time, the report does not specify whether the Bureau has previously investigated the manufacturer of Flamingo.

Recall that the name of the long-range Ukrainian missile "Flamingo", as well as its original pink color, became an inside joke among the developers about the little-noticeable but important role of women in weapons production.
