Shmyhal and Kellogg discuss preparations for Zelenskyy and Trump to sign agreement on production and sales of drones

During a meeting with the US President's Special Envoy, General Keith Kellogg, in Kyiv, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed preparations for the signing of an agreement on the production and sale of drones by Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump. Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"We also discussed preparations for the signing of an agreement by the Presidents of Ukraine and the US on the production and sale of drones (Drone deal). During the meeting, the relevant documents were handed over to the American side," he said.

Shmyhal also said that Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov and Head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov provided the American delegation with a detailed analysis of the enemy's plans and the situation on the front.

"Together with our partners, we must increase pressure on the aggressor to force him to a just, lasting and sustainable peace," the minister stressed.

Shmyhal informed the US delegation about Ukraine's defense priorities, in particular, the need to increase the production of ammunition and drones to stop the enemy's offensive.

"Joint projects in this area allow us to more effectively provide Ukrainian soldiers with weapons," he noted.

Separately, they discussed the creation of reliable security guarantees that will make new aggression against Ukraine impossible in the future.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Kellogg's visit to Ukraine will take place against the backdrop of the US, Ukraine and Europe agreeing on security guarantees.

In June, then First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko reported that Ukraine is proposing that the US expand the agreement on the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund (minerals agreement) to support the defense industry in Ukraine, and the US is open to such cooperation.
