Expansion rate of European defense companies triples after russian invasion of Ukraine — FT

The area of European defense enterprises has increased to 7 million square meters. The rate of their expansion has tripled since the start of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This is reported by the British publication Financial Times.

The publication notes that Europe is currently experiencing rearmament of a "historic scale". This is evidenced, in particular, by the expansion of the area of factories and other enterprises of the military industry.

In 2020-2021, the growth in the area of such enterprises amounted to 790,000 square meters. And in 2024-2025 it amounted to 2.8 million square meters. That is, the rate of expansion has tripled.

The fastest-growing enterprise for the production of ammunition and explosives, owned by the German concern Rheinmetall and the Hungarian company N7 Holding.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the end of July this year, the German authorities agreed to a plan to double defense spending over the next two years.

Recall, in June this year it became known that the Polish concern Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa would increase the production of 155-mm ammunition fivefold over the next three years.

We also wrote that the British BAE Systems is preparing to increase the production of ammunition for 155-mm artillery systems 16-fold.
