Russian occupiers seized up to 550 sq km of territory in Ukraine in July - British military intelligence

Russian troops could have seized about 500-550 sq km of Ukrainian territory in July. The russians occupied the same amount of territory in June.

This was reported by the United Kingdom's military intelligence on its official page on the social network X (Twitter).

According to analysts of the British military department, in June and July, the occupying forces probably seized 500-550 sq km of territory in Ukraine after a monthly increase since March 2025.

The russian occupiers continued their tactical advance in the Donetsk Region, mainly to the northeast and southwest of Pokrovsk. The occupiers continue their attempts to surround the city and put pressure on the remaining logistical routes.

"Russian forces now occupy almost all of the Donetsk Region south of Pokrovsk," the report said.

However, over the past two weeks, intelligence officials say, the russians have made no significant gains in the Sumy Region. Continued losses and Ukrainian counterattacks have likely thwarted russia's plans to create a buffer zone.

Units of russia's 51st Airborne Regiment in the Sumy Region are reportedly refusing to follow orders. And earlier reports indicate complaints about commanders ordering infantry attacks with heavy casualties.
