This week the world has chance to see end to war - Yermak
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak believes that this week the world may get an opportunity to stop the war of the aggressor country of russia against Ukraine.
Yermak stated this in a text he wrote for the American publication The Washington Post.
According to Yermak, the day before, US President Donald Trump gave russian dictator vladimir putin ten days to cease fire in Ukraine. The deadline for this ultimatum expires on August 8.
With this message, Trump gave putin an unambiguous signal. Yermak believes that the signal of the American leader must be accompanied by decisive action.
Yermak thanked Trump for his firm and unwavering commitment to peace through force. He noted that Kyiv shares this commitment.
At the same time, the head of the Office of the President emphasized that only increased sanctions pressure can change the trajectory of the war.
"Trump's latest statements indicate that he has seen through the smoke and understands the stakes. The ultimatum he gave putin expires later this week. Thousands of lives depend on the success of what happens next. The tools to stop russia exist. All that is needed is the political will to use them precisely and forcefully," Yermak wrote.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 31, Reuters reported, citing its own sources, that the United States had told the UN Security Council that an agreement to end the war in Ukraine must be concluded by August 8.
As we recall, the day before, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that President Trump does not intend to wait forever for russia to take a step towards a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
