Ukraine working on lists for 1,200-for-1,200 exchange — Zelenskyy

Ukraine is working on lists of 1,200 prisoners of war, the exchange of which was agreed upon during the last round of negotiations in Istanbul.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on his official Telegram channel on Sunday, August 3.

According to him, he held a meeting with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov.

Zelenskyy, Yermak and Umerov discussed the negotiations with russia, namely the issue of implementing the agreements reached at the meetings in Istanbul.

This concerns, in particular, the exchange of prisoners of war. Zelenskyy recalled that at the latest negotiations, Ukraine and russia agreed to conduct a new exchange according to the formula of 1,200 for 1,200.

"There is an agreement on the exchange of 1,200 people, work on the lists is ongoing. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council reported on communication with the Russian representative," Zelenskyy said.

In addition, the head of state added, Ukraine is working on unblocking the process of returning civilians.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, about 6,000 people have been returned from russian captivity.

Recall, on July 23, Ukraine and russia carried out the ninth round of the exchange of prisoners of war under the Istanbul agreements.
