Ukraine's goal is to end war this year – Sybiha

Ukraine aims to end the war this year, and how the war ends will affect the security of Europe and other regions. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this in an interview with YLE on Friday, August 1.

Currently, US President Donald Trump is the only person russian dictator vladimir putin is afraid of, Sybiha noted. According to him, the whole world is watching whether Trump will fulfill his promises about sanctions against the russian federation, which could bring peace closer to Ukraine and hinder trade with third countries.

"Ukraine's goal is to end the war this year. Currently, Ukraine is a guarantor of security. How the war ends will affect the security of Europe and other regions. This must be understood, and we must make joint efforts to force Russia to peace," the Foreign Minister emphasized.

According to Sybiha, russia was simulating peace talks in order to continue seizing Ukrainian territory and gain time for aggression.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 29, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that in the coming weeks, international partners should achieve maximum synchronization of sanctions against russia in order to increase pressure on the military economy of the aggressor state.

On July 29, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called on russia to sit at the negotiating table until Trump introduced the promised tariffs.

As a reminder, on July 28, US President Donald Trump announced that he was reducing his 50-day deadline that he had previously given putin for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
