Rada increases defense spending by UAH 412 billion

The Verkhovna Rada has supported a law that increased defense and security spending by UAH 412 billion. Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel on Thursday, July 31.

Shmyhal noted that the adopted law will ensure timely payments to servicemen. The Defense Minister reported that defense spending has been increased by UAH 412 billion.

"UAH 115 billion of this amount is timely and stable financial support for the Defense Forces. UAH 216 billion is funds for the purchase and production of weapons, military equipment and drones; the rest is for other urgent needs of the army," Shmyhal emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 30, Shmyhal stated that mobilization in Ukraine is continuing according to plan and is 90% proceeding absolutely normally.

On July 30, Shmyhal announced that the Cabinet of Ministers had allowed manufacturers of drones and electronic warfare (EW) equipment to include loan costs in the price of government contracts up to 10% of the cost price.

Also on July 30, Shmyhal announced that the Cabinet of Ministers had decided to launch a separate direction of the "Contract 18–24" program for drone operators with a service life of two years.
