Russia attacks Ukraine with jet drones
On the night of Wednesday, July 30, russian troops launched 78 drones over the territory of Ukraine, air defense forces managed to neutralize 51 of them.
This was announced by the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that on the night of July 30 (from 10:30 pm on July 29), the enemy attacked Ukraine with 78 Shahed attack UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Hvardiyske - TOT Crimea.
A feature of the night attack was the enemy's use of up to 8 jet UAVs in the northern direction.
"According to preliminary data, as of 09:00 am, air defenses shot down/suppressed 51 enemy UAVs in the north and east of the country," the report says.
27 UAVs hit 7 locations, and downed ones (fragments) fell in 2 locations.
"Jet Shaheds" is a conventional name for modified Shahed-136/131s with a piston engine replaced by a jet engine. Unlike the classic versions, which fly slower and have a characteristic "moped" sound, such drones move faster, emit a whistle or turbine noise, and are more difficult to intercept by air defenses.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of July 29, the russians launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 37 drones over the territory of Ukraine, and air defense forces managed to neutralize 32 drones.
