Trump losing patience because talks with putin lead to nothing - Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US President Donald Trump is losing patience with a peaceful resolution to the russia-Ukraine war, because contacts with russian leader vladimir putin "never lead to anything."
He said this in an interview with Fox News.
"I think he is becoming increasingly frustrated that, despite very good contacts with vladimir putin, phone calls never lead to anything. So it's time for some action, and I think the President has made it clear that he is losing his patience, that he is losing his desire to wait for the russian side to do something to end this war," Rubio said.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that more than a hundred thousand russian soldiers have been killed since January of this year.
"This is a bloody conflict with a lot of death and destruction, a lot of this confrontation is about stalling for time and pretending that they are interested in peace, but in reality they are not taking it seriously. He is not going to fall into that trap when he is being dragged into continuous talks about talks," he added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, one of the key topics in the talks between US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during his five-day visit to Scotland will be ending the war in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump also said that a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian dictator vladimir putin will take place, however, he stressed, "it should have happened three months ago."
Recall, on July 23, a new round of talks between Ukraine and russia took place in Istanbul.
During the negotiations in Istanbul, the Ukrainian delegation proposed holding a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and russia with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump by the end of August.
