ISW calculates how much occupiers earned from sale of Ukrainian property in Crimea

In the first half of 2025 alone, the occupation authorities of the temporarily occupied Crimea received more than USD 28 million from the so-called "nationalization" of Ukrainian property. At the same time, over the previous two years, the profit amounted to another USD 61 million.

This is evidenced by the calculations of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The head of the Crimean occupation council, Vladimir Konstantinov, said on July 15 that the occupation administration had sold 25 real estate properties "nationalized" from the so-called "enemies of Crimea and russia", earning about USD 28 million in the first six months of 2025.

It was claimed that these funds would allegedly go to the development of Crimea, as well as payments to russian soldiers fighting against Ukraine.

"Russia is using confiscation and nationalization of property as a punitive measure in occupied Ukraine, depriving Ukrainians of their real estate," ISW analysts emphasized.

In addition, ISW previously reported on how russia is using confiscation and "nationalization" of property to profit from the occupation of Ukraine, effectively using the sale of this property as a source of income for the russian budget. The occupation administration of Crimea, in particular, is increasing efforts to sell off nationalized property.

"Profits from nationalization amounted to RUB 4.8 billion (USD 61 million) in the period from 2022 to 2024, while the value for the first six months of 2025 alone (RUB 2.2 billion/USD 28 million) is almost half of what was obtained in the first two years of the full-scale invasion," the analysts noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier the Ukrainian prosecutor's office reported suspicions to the head of the archeology department of a russian museum, who organized illegal excavations on the territory of the architectural and archaeological complex "Ancient City of Panticapaeum" in the city of Kerch (Crimea).
