Russian aviation industry has not been able to "import-substitute" bearings that were previously purchased from West for 3 years

For more than three years, the industry of the aggressor country of russia has not been able to start producing bearings and some electronic components for the production of aircraft. Previously, they were simply purchased from Western manufacturers.

According to the russian agency EAN, this was stated by the general director of the Aerokompozit enterprise Anatoly Gaidansky.

According to him, the russian aviation industry now has two "pain points" - these are bearings and the electronic component base.

"Our bearings are not even close to those that our industry needs <...> The electronic component base. We use the base of friendly countries. Yes, internally we use a certain number of foreign components, but the design of systems, certification - this is all russian," Gaidansky said.

He noted that creating its own passenger aircraft has become a real challenge for russia. He called the reason for this the loss of Soviet aircraft manufacturing competence and the advancement of technologies to a new level.

In addition, the russian aviation industry is facing a personnel problem. New engineers who come to work for enterprises have much worse knowledge.

"The level of training of engineers, unfortunately, has become lower in recent years," Gaidansky said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in May of this year, Polish customs officers intercepted 5 tons of tires for Boeing passenger aircraft. They were trying to transport them to the territory of russia.

Shortly before that, russia recognized the failure of the project to develop the light-engine multi-purpose aircraft "Baikal", with which they wanted to replace the fleet of outdated An-2s.

Recall, in July 2024, it became known that China excluded russia from the project to develop the CR929 long-haul passenger liner.
