Blackout at Zaporizhzhia NPP again due to russian strike on only working power line — Energy Ministry

The army of the aggressor country russia shelled the power line connecting the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP with the power system of Ukraine. As a result of the strike, the power plant blacked out.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this on Friday, July 4.

The Ministry explained that the damaged power line is the only one connecting the Zaporizhzhia NPP with the unified power system (UPS-U).

"This line allows us to support our own needs to ensure the level of radiation safety," the message says.

It is emphasized that this is the eighth incident since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, when the nuclear power plant is experiencing a blackout or is on the verge of it.

The Ministry of Energy added that the actions of the russians are an act of nuclear terrorism.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early June of this year, Western media outlets wrote, citing their own sources, that russia wanted to restart the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Shortly before the media publications, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, stated that in the conditions of a full-scale war, there was no possibility of restarting the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

And at the end of June, the IAEA stated that russia allegedly agreed that the Zaporizhzhia NPP could not be restarted due to the proximity of the front line.

In May, The New York Times wrote that the russians were building a power transmission line in the occupied territories to connect the Zaporizhzhia NPP to their power system.
