Explosions heard in Saratov and Engels, several airports in russia suspended operations

On the morning of July 1, local residents heard explosions and the sound of sirens in the cities of Saratov and Engels (Saratov Oblast, russia). At the same time, it became known about the temporary suspension of operations of four airports in different regions of russia, as well as a statement about repelling a night drone attack.

According to the russian Telegram channel Astra, on Tuesday night, eyewitnesses heard a series of explosions in Saratov and Engels, where a strategic aviation facility is located - the Engels-2 military airfield, which is a base for Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers.

At about 4:00 a.m., Saratov Oblast governor Roman Busargin announced a "UAV threat" and announced that emergency services had been put on full alert.

According to Astra, the airports in Saratov, Kazan, Nizhny Kamsk and Ulyanovsk were temporarily suspended due to the incidents.

Meanwhile, the acting governor of the Rostov Oblast, Yuri Slyusar, said that russian air defense forces allegedly shot down drones in several areas: Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Novoshakhtinsk, as well as in the Millerovsky, Aksai, Myasniki, Neklinovsky and Matveyevo-Kurgansky districts. According to him, there were no casualties among the population.

As a reminder, the military facility in Engels has repeatedly been the target of drone attacks in previous months.

In particular, on the night of June 6, the Defense Forces struck the airfields of the russian occupiers and other important military facilities of the enemy.
