Iran summons Ukrainian diplomat over officials' statements
The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Ukraine's Chargé d'Affaires in Tehran to protest against comments by some Ukrainian officials.
This was reported on the Iranian Foreign Ministry website.
Thus, it is indicated that the statements of Ukrainian officials, about which the Ukrainian diplomat was strongly protested, are related to "Zionist (meaning Israel - ed.) and American aggression against Iran."
Head of the First Eurasian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shahram Farsai, submitting a note of protest from the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated:
"By supporting the military aggression of the Zionist regime, the Ukrainian authorities have actually ignored Ukraine's international legal obligations to comply with the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the four Geneva Conventions, and have also confirmed the horrendous crimes committed by the Israeli apartheid regime, which entails the international responsibility of the Ukrainian government."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also added that the diplomat was also informed of the "consequences of repeated hostile and provocative positions" towards Tehran. The Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine noted that he would convey the protest to his government as soon as possible.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 22, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the US and Israel had sent Iran a clear signal by their actions about the inadmissibility of a policy of destabilizing the situation in the Middle East.
As a reminder, a farewell ceremony was held in the Israeli city of Bat Yam for five Ukrainian citizens who were killed in an Iranian missile strike. They were all members of the same family.
