SSU head tells how russian special services wanted to kill Zelenskyy in Poland
The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, told how russian special services tried to eliminate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rzeszów, Poland.
Maliuk told reporters about this.
"A military pensioner, a Pole, who was recruited decades ago and he firmly believed in the Soviet idea and nurtured the intention over the years. So, he - this "conserve" - was activated. The task was: to physically eliminate President Zelenskyy at the Rzeszów airport. Several options were considered. One of them was an FPV drone, the other was a sniper complex," said Maliuk.
The head of the SSU noted that the assassination was prevented together with the Polish ABW.
"All this was implemented, we detained him. Polish colleagues worked professionally, it was our joint work with them," emphasized Maliuk.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Polish authorities have charged a man with planning to help russian intelligence prepare a possible assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In 2024, the SSU reported that a Polish citizen had collaborated with russian intelligence to plan an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
