SSU detains enemy "mole" preparing russian attack on Neptune anti-ship systems

The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of the aggressor country of the russian federation who was spying on the enemy in the Defense Forces. The attacker was preparing an air attack by the russians on Ukrainian Neptune missile systems, which keep the coastal waters of the Black Sea under fire control. This is stated in the SSU report.

According to law enforcement officials, the enemy mission was carried out by a 33-year-old serviceman recruited by the russian military intelligence (GRU).

On behalf of the russians, the "mole" was supposed to give them the geolocations of the unit where he serves and which guards the Neptune anti-ship systems in southern Ukraine. It is noted that in case of receiving the appropriate coordinates, the enemy planned to carry out a combined strike on them using kamikaze drones and cruise missiles. Before the attack, the supervisor was supposed to warn the agent about moving to a "safe" distance from the fire zone.

"The SSU military counterintelligence foiled the plans when it timely exposed the "mole" and documented his reconnaissance activity. After securing the Defense Forces locations, the Security Service detained the person involved when he was preparing an agent "report" for the occupiers," the special service said.

According to the investigation, the person came into the aggressor's field of vision while distributing pro-russian comments in the chatbots of the russian Defense Ministry.

During the searches, the detainee's phone with evidence of his work for the enemy was seized.

Investigators of the Security Service informed the agent about suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
