Rada approves Zelenskyy's appointment of Tax Service Head Kravchenko as Prosecutor General
The Verkhovna Rada has approved the appointment by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ruslan Kravchenko as Prosecutor General of the State Tax Service.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Holos faction, announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The Rada has appointed Ruslan Kravchenko as Prosecutor General of Ukraine. In favor - 273," he said.
Thus, 273 MPs voted for the adoption of Resolution No. 13375, with the minimum required 226.
35-year-old Kravchenko has held the position of Head of the State Tax Service since December 2024.
From April 2023 to December 2024, he was the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.
In 2021-2023, he headed the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv Region, and since March 2022, he has been conducting the recording and investigation of war crimes committed by russians in Bucha.
Kravchenko worked in the military prosecutor's office under the leadership of Anatolii Matios. He represented the prosecution in the treason trial of former President Viktor Yanukovych.
Kravchenko was born on March 14, 1990 in Severodonetsk, Luhansk Region.
In 2012, he graduated from the Military Law Faculty of the Yaroslav the Wise Law Academy of Ukraine National University, where he received a master's degree in law and the military rank of lieutenant of justice.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 16, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for approval a proposal to appoint the head of the State Tax Service, Ruslan Kravchenko, as Prosecutor General.
Zelenskyy dismissed Andrii Kostin from the position of Prosecutor General in October 2024, after approval by the Verkhovna Rada, he had held this position since July 2022. On October 22, after a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, which considered the situation with medical and social expert commissions and abuses in the prosecutor's office, Kostin announced his resignation.
