Zelenskyy proposes Rada approve appointment of head of Tax Service Kravchenko as Prosecutor General
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposes that the Verkhovna Rada approve the appointment of the head of the State Tax Service Ruslan Kravchenko as the Prosecutor General. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"In accordance with paragraph 11 of part one of Article 106 and part three of Article 131-1 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has received a submission from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on granting consent to the appointment of Ruslan Andriyovych Kravchenko to the position of Prosecutor General," he said.
Stefanchuk noted that the Verkhovna Rada will consider this submission at one of the nearest plenary sessions.
In turn, the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Davyid Arakhamia, reported on the Telegram channel that a meeting of the Servant of the People faction will be held on June 17, during which the candidacy for the Prosecutor General will be presented.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in October 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Andrii Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General, after the approval of the Verkhovna Rada, he held this position since July 2022. On October 22, after a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, which considered the situation with medical and social expert commissions and abuses in the prosecutor's office, Kostin announced his resignation.
In December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed the former head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Ruslan Kravchenko as head of the State Tax Service. Kravchenko has held the position of head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration since April 2023.
Kravchenko was born on March 14, 1990 in Severodonetsk, Luhansk Region, and from March 2021 to April 2023 he was the head of the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office. He participated in the competition for the position of director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. Previously working in the military prosecutor's office under Anatolii Matios, Kravchenko represented the prosecution in the treason trial of former President Viktor Yanukovych.
