Farmers complete sowing of spring grains and legumes

As of June 6, 2025, farmers of all regions of Ukraine have sown 5.6 million hectares of spring grains and legumes and have actually completed the spring sowing campaign.

This is stated in a message from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that the leading regions in terms of sowing rates are the Poltava, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Sumy Regions.

5.6 million hectares of spring grains and legumes is the level of 2024.

A feature of this year's season is the increase in the area under spring wheat, the sown area of ​​which as of today is almost 220,000 hectares.

This is due to demand from processing enterprises and exporters.

Also, 7.7 million hectares of industrial crops were sown, of which sunflower prevails - 4.9 million hectares and soybeans - 2.3 million hectares.

The structure of sown areas by all categories of farms in the controlled territory of Ukraine in 2025 does not differ significantly from the previous year, and the indicated areas are sufficient to ensure domestic food security and create export potential.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of May 30, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine sowed 5.5 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops, which is 97% of the projected areas.

In 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.

The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat to 227,500 hectares.
