Ukrainian delegation led by Svyrydenko arrives in US to discuss mineral deal and tougher sanctions against russia - Yermak
A Ukrainian delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko arrived in Washington (US) to discuss the mineral deal, tougher sanctions against the aggressor country russia, and defense support for Ukraine.
The head of the Presidential Office Andrii Yermak, who is also part of the delegation, announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"We will actively promote issues important to Ukraine. Our agenda is quite complex. We plan to talk about defense support and the situation on the battlefield, tougher sanctions against Russia, in particular Senator Graham's bill. We will also discuss the Agreement on the Creation of the Reconstruction Investment Fund, which we signed earlier," he said.
The parties will also discuss the issue of russia's return of deported Ukrainian children and support for this process, as well as russian propaganda related to church issues.
Yermak reported that many meetings are planned with representatives of both parties that support Ukraine, the team of US President Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian delegation will talk about the results of the meetings in Istanbul, as well as how russia is stalling for time with a ceasefire and negotiations for the sake of war.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 2, the second round of negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and russia took place in Istanbul (Turkey), the parties exchanged proposals for a ceasefire and achieving long-term peace and agreed on a new release of prisoners.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that if russia turns the meeting in Istanbul into empty talk, there should be a new level of pressure, new sanctions not only from Europe, but also joint sanctions at the level of the G7, including the US, in particular, it is important to seriously restrict russian oil trade.
On May 23, Svyrydenko reported that Ukraine and the United States had completed all procedures for launching the US-Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund (minerals agreement).
