Elon Musk releases beta version of XChat messenger
Some users of the social network X (Twitter) have begun to receive access to the beta version of a new platform for sending private messages - XChat, TechCrunch reports.
Shortly after sending out access to the beta test, Elon Musk published a post in which he listed the main features of the future messenger integrated into the X platform. Among them: a different encryption method, disappearing messages, and the ability to send any files, including video and audio calls. In addition, the calls themselves will not require a phone number.
In addition, the billionaire noted that XChat is built on the Rust platform and will have a completely new architecture.
Elon Musk continues to expand the functions or spheres of influence of the social network X in one way or another. Recently, Telegram owner Pavel Durov announced that his Telegram messenger will feature a chatbot Grok, which is built into the X platform. And although the agreements have not yet been concluded, the launch is expected to take place this summer.
It was previously reported that the X platform has lost 11 million European users since August last year. This is evidenced by the latest X data that the company was obliged to publish in order to comply with the main technological legislative act of the European Union - the Digital Services Act.
