Poland holds second round of presidential election

On Sunday, June 1, Poland holds a second round of the presidential election, which will last until 9:00 p.m., unless voting is extended.

It was reported by Onet.

Thus, the second round of the presidential election is held on Sunday, June 1, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Almost 29 million Poles, more than 700,000 Poles abroad, have the right to vote in the second round of election. Voting lasts from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time.

The mayor of Warsaw from the Civic Platform, Rafal Trzaskowski, with 31.36% of the vote, and the director of the Institute of National Remembrance, Karol Nawrocki, supported by Law and Justice, with 29.54%, got into the second round.

The election silence began 24 hours before voting day and will last until its end. If none of the precinct election commissions continue voting, the election silence will end at 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Voting may be continued as a result of extraordinary events, such as, for example, a flood, flooding of a polling station, a construction or transport disaster, or the need to reprint ballot papers. These are obstacles that complicate or paralyze the work of the district election commission and make it impossible or significantly limit voters' access to the polling station.

The election silence before the second round of the presidential election began at midnight from Friday, May 30 to Saturday, May 31. During this time, it is prohibited to publish polls and campaign for specific candidates. Violation of the ban is punishable by a fine of up to PLN 1 million.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, Polish presidential candidate Sławomir Menzen, who came in third in the first round of voting, sparked a wave of criticism among his own supporters after an informal meeting with the main contenders for the position, Rafal Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki. The politicians chatted over a glass of beer in a pub in Torun on May 24.
