Zelenskyy, Erdogan discuss possibility of four-party talks in telephone conversation
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which they discussed the possibility of organizing four-party talks at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, russia, Turkey and the United States.
The Office of the President of Ukraine has reported this.
Thus, Zelenskyy personally thanked Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey for their consistent position in supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The leaders discussed the meeting of the Ukrainian and russian delegations in Istanbul on May 16. Zelenskyy stressed that the exchange of prisoners is its important achievement, but only one. The President added that for further movement towards peace, there must be a ceasefire.
They also discussed the possible next meeting in Istanbul and the conditions under which Ukraine is ready to participate in it.
"The leaders share the same view that this meeting cannot and should not be empty. They also discussed the possibility of organizing quadrilateral talks at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the United States," the report says.
Zelenskyy also invited Erdogan to participate in the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit. He also thanked the Turkish president for the steps and ideas that can yield the necessary result.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine still has no information about the russian "memorandum", and there is no understanding of the format.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on partners to respond to russia's statement at the UN Security Council about its readiness to fight "as long as necessary." He stressed that it was time to speak to russia "in the language of sanctions and increased support for Ukraine."
