Cabinet creates headquarters for preparation for next heating season headed by Kuleba
The Cabinet of Ministers has created a headquarters for preparation for the next heating season headed by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery - Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a government meeting, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"In the country, one of the key challenges is the next winter. To guarantee people light and warmth in winter, we are creating a headquarters for preparation for the heating season. It will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery - Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba," he said.
Shmyhal noted that the headquarters will coordinate the actions of central and local executive bodies, promote the creation of regional and city headquarters, promptly resolve problematic issues, and monitor the preparation of housing and communal services facilities for winter.
The Prime Minister reported that the volume of gas pumped into gas storage facilities in May exceeded the volume for the same period last year by 40%. According to him, 130 MW of cogeneration capacity and 250 MW of thermal capacity of block-modular boiler houses have already been put into operation. In total, over 900 MW of such capacities are planned to be connected in 2025.
He also said that there are already over EUR 1.1 billion in contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, which is a resource for purchasing energy equipment for the restoration and modernization of energy infrastructure.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the heating season officially ended in Ukraine on April 15. In Kyiv this year, heating shutdowns began on March 24.
