Trump bids farewell to Elon Musk

US President Donald Trump commented on the end of Elon Musk's tenure at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), emphasizing that the businessman will remain close to the administration.

Trump wrote about this on his Truth Social page.

"This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific!" said Trump.

In addition, the US President announced a joint press conference with Musk, which will be held on May 30 in the Oval Office at 1:30 p.m. local time (8:30 p.m. Kyiv time).

Elon Musk confirmed the day before that he was leaving his position at DOGE. He also hinted at his intention to focus on his own companies - in particular, Tesla and SpaceX.

Elon Musk actively supported Donald Trump in the 2024 elections, spending almost USD 300 million and becoming one of the largest donors. After Trump's victory, he was his advisor and a key figure in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However, in April, conflicts began to arise between them, including a quarrel with the Secretary of the Treasury and failure to attend a secret Pentagon briefing. Trump hinted at the termination of DOGE, while Musk announced his intention to reduce his participation in politics and focus on business.

Recall that Elon Musk is leaving the administration of US President Donald Trump after a stormy campaign to increase efficiency, but ultimately failed to achieve the desired savings.
