NBU cuts net interbank currency sales by 18% to USD 618 million on May 19-23

The NBU increased the net sale of foreign currency on the interbank foreign exchange market in the period from May 19 to May 23 by 18% compared to the previous week to USD 618.11 million.

This follows from the NBU data, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

During the reporting week, the NBU bought USD 0.29 million, while it sold USD 618.40 million.

The NBU did not buy or sell euros last week.

Since the beginning of the year, the NBU has bought USD 35.63 million, while it has sold USD 13,600.58 million.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024, the NBU bought USD 126.28 million and sold USD 35,312.64 million at the interbank.

In 2023, the NBU bought USD 219.85 million and sold USD 28,829.73 million at the interbank.

The NBU did not buy or sell euros in 2023.

In 2022, the NBU bought USD 3,267.95 million and EUR 110.97 million at the interbank and sold USD 26,380.59 million and EUR 1,789.11 million.

The National Bank introduced managed exchange rate flexibility from October 3, 2023.

The NBU abolished all currency restrictions for the import of works and services and allowed the repatriation of "new" dividends.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has introduced new approaches to determining the list of currencies to which the official hryvnia exchange rate is set daily, and has also canceled the list of currencies for monthly setting of the official exchange rate.
