General Staff confirms destruction of Energia plant in Lipetsk Oblast of RF and names consequences
On the night of May 23, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck PJSC Energia, located in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The hit in the area of the target was confirmed, a series of explosions were recorded. A fire broke out on the territory of the facility. Detailed information on the consequences of the destruction is being clarified," the message says.
The General Staff emphasized that PJSC Energia is one of the largest manufacturers of chemical power sources in the russian federation. The enterprise is the only manufacturer of batteries for planning and correction modules installed on aircraft bombs.
In addition, the plant ensures the manufacture of batteries for the Iskander-M PTRC, sea-based cruise missiles and a number of universal batteries used in power supply systems for special equipment.
"The shutdown of PJSC Energia may leave part of the military equipment and means of destruction of the russian occupiers without critically important power supplies. The Defense Forces continue targeted combat work on important military targets of the russian federation in order to force russia to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, this morning the Center for Countering Disinformation informed that an important plant of the russian military-industrial complex was attacked in the russian federation - Energia in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast, which fulfills orders for the russian military-industrial complex and specializes in the production of chemical power sources.
