At least 45,000 men have illegally crossed border since beginning of 2022 – Temporary Investigative Commission of Verkhovna Rada
The Verkhovna Rada held a meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission dedicated to illegal border crossing. It became known that since the beginning of 2022, 44,900 people have illegally crossed the border, almost 30,000 more were detained during an attempt to illegally cross.
Member of Parliament (non-affiliated) Yuliia Yatsyk reported this on her Facebook.
"Pre-trial investigation bodies have initiated more than 7,000 criminal cases related to illegal border crossing, but there are a little more than 400 real court verdicts," she wrote.
The meeting discussed that there is no clear list of documents that border guards must require from a person when crossing the border. According to Yatsyk, in each specific case, "the decision is made personally, based on general norms and logic."
Also, the electronic system of border guards does not store copies (scans) of documents that are the basis for a person crossing the state border, so it is impossible to verify the legality of such a crossing.
"Border guards do not monitor the return of a person who has left within the established period, which leads to frequent cases of non-return of athletes, civil servants, and other persons, as well as to untimely notification of such facts to law enforcement agencies. Letters from the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, civil–military administrations, and state agencies are uncontrolled and corrupt in nature (the Temporary Investigative Commission) requested information on this matter for verification)," the MP added.
We will remind, in the Vinnytsia Region, a teacher was exposed who organized the illegal transfer of conscripts across the border.
