Tusk predicts "very difficult days" after talks between russia and Ukraine

The russian side de facto interrupted the talks and refused to cease fire. We may have very difficult days ahead.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated this. His words were quoted by the RMF24 publication on Friday, May 16.

Tusk said that the russian side put forward conditions that were unacceptable not only for Ukraine, but for everyone. According to him, the talks in Istanbul showed that the russian federation had no intention of holding talks in the presence of the American side.

"We do not hide that the Russian position can hardly be called constructive in any sense. We probably still have very difficult days ahead of us," Tusk emphasized.

In his opinion, the russian side in Istanbul de facto interrupted the talks and refused to cease fire, so "it is time to increase the pressure." Tusk noted that politicians will continue to work for peace in Ukraine, and the main task will be to preserve the unity of Europe and America on this issue.

As the Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 16, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, discussed the talks of the Ukrainian and russian delegations in Istanbul with US President Donald Trump in a telephone conversation.
