Trump will not go to talks between Ukraine and russia in Istanbul - media

US President Donald Trump will not take part in the talks between Ukraine and russia, which are to be held in Istanbul, Sky News writes.

As an American government official clarified in a comment to Reuters, the head of the White House does not plan to visit Turkey to participate in this negotiation process.

It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump may join the talks in Istanbul, but only on the condition that vladimir putin will also be present there. This was previously stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

However, apparently, the russian leader ignored this initiative - his name is not on the list of participants in the delegation, which, according to the Kremlin, will leave for Turkey for the talks.

The dialogue in Istanbul will take place after the end of the short-term "truce" announced personally by putin from May 8 to 11. After its completion, Kyiv, together with the leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" countries, appealed to Moscow with a demand to introduce a "regime of silence" for a period of 30 days from May 12. In case of refusal, the European Union threatened to introduce new restrictions against russia.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 14, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak stated that any negotiations without putin would be meaningless.
