Russian agents tried to blow up police squad in Rivne Region. They were detained
In the Rivne Region, the Security Service and the National Police detained accomplices of the aggressor country russia, who committed a terrorist attack against law enforcement officers. This is stated in the SSU report.
According to the SSU, the attackers tried to blow up a police squad that arrived after a fake 102 call to an abandoned building outside the city. During the call to the emergency line, an anonymous person reported that a body of a person with signs of violent death had allegedly been found there. After the police arrived at the scene of the call, an explosion occurred. As a result, no one was injured.
Employees of the SSU and the National Police "hot on the trail" detained the perpetrators of the terrorist attack. They turned out to be two 18-year-old residents of Rivne, who were carrying out orders from the russian special services.
To commit the crime, they made two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the instructions of the occupiers, which they equipped with combat grenades, nuts and phones for remote detonation.
All the components were taken by russian agents from a cache, the coordinates of which they received from a russian curator via messenger. Then, on his instructions, the attackers disguised a "bomb trap" at the site of the planned terrorist attack. In order to track the arrival of the police unit, the suspects installed motion sensors and video cameras with remote access for russian special services there.
After preparing the explosion, the terrorists went to homes, where they hoped to "sink in" and receive the promised cryptocurrency transfer from the occupiers.
In the end, law enforcement officers detained both attackers at their addresses. In addition, during the examination of the terrorist attack site, a second IED was discovered, which did not work after the russians attempted to activate it.
Currently, SSU investigators have informed the detainees of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act).
The perpetrators are in custody and face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the military counterintelligence of the Security Service detained an agent of the aggressor country, the russian federation, in the combat zone in the Kharkiv Region. He turned out to be a contract worker from one of the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who worked for russian military intelligence.
