Spain classifies investigation into massive power outages

In Spain, it is no longer ruled out that the massive power outage in the Iberian Peninsula was caused by a cyberattack. Therefore, the National Court has classified the investigation into the incident.

This is reported by El Pais.

Investigators must find out whether the disappearance of power in several countries was the result of a cyberattack. The causes of the blackout are currently unknown.

The judge made the decision to classify at the request of the prosecutor's office. In this way, they want to "prevent a situation that could seriously jeopardize the results of the investigation."

Recall that the National Audience of Spain has launched an investigation into the possible connection of the massive power outage with a hacker attack.

On April 28, millions of people in Spain, Portugal, parts of France, and Andorra were left without electricity due to a massive blackout. Transport, banking, and communications were affected, and Spain declared a state of emergency. Ukraine offered assistance. By April 29, power was almost fully restored.
