Europe denies that massive power outages in Spain and Portugal caused by cyberattack

European Council President António Costa said that the cause of the massive power outages in a number of European countries was not related to a cyberattack.

According to The Guardian, Costa said this at a meeting with the leaders of Spain and Portugal, which were most affected by the outages.

According to him, the Spanish and Portuguese authorities have not yet established the cause of the outages. The leadership of both countries is working to ensure energy supply.

"They have not determined the cause, but there is no evidence that it was a cyberattack," Costa said.

He called for waiting until the investigation is completed and the exact cause of the outages is established.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Monday, April 28, part of Spain and Portugal was without power for an unknown reason. The outage caused chaos in the operation of airports and rail transport.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said that Kyiv is ready to provide assistance to European partners, as it has similar experience due to attacks by the aggressor country of russia.

We will remind, the director general of the electricity supply company Yasno Serhii Kovalenko joked about European countries that experienced large-scale power outages.
