Today, April 25, US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff held a three-hour meeting with russian president vladimir putin in moscow to discuss the US plan to end the war in Ukraine.

This is reported by Reuters.

Thus, the kremlin's foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov, who participated in the meeting, called it constructive and very useful.

"This conversation allowed Russia and the United States to further bring their positions closer together, not only on Ukraine but also on a number of other international issues," he told reporters.

Ushakov added: "As for the Ukrainian crisis itself, the discussion focused in particular on the possibility of resuming direct negotiations between representatives of the Russian Federation and Ukraine."

Russia and Ukraine have not held direct talks since the first weeks of the war, which began in February 2022.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during negotiations in Paris, Witkoff presented the text of proposals to European allies on ending the war between Ukraine and the aggressor country russia to them. The Reuters news agency claims that it had this document at its disposal. It published the text of this document on its website.

US President Donald Trump said that Crimea, which russia occupied in 2014, will remain part of it, and that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy knows about it.
